Tech Prodigy Malfred Kwame Kodom Meets Minister of Communications to Discuss Future Tech Initiatives

Accra, Wednesday, April 9, 2025 — Malfred Kwame Kodom, a self-taught tech enthusiast who has gained international recognition for his exceptional device repair skills, flew from Kumasi to Accra today to meet with the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP).

Kwame Kodom rose to global prominence following his recent appearance at the Global AI Summit, where he showcased an innovative technique to convert iPhones to accept global SIM cards—a breakthrough that caught the attention of tech leaders and innovators worldwide.

His journey is a remarkable testament to the power of self-directed learning and passion for technology.

A former student of Kumasi Secondary Technical School, Kwame studied applied electricity and began repairing electronic devices for his teachers using skills acquired through YouTube tutorials. After completing senior high school, he dedicated himself to mastering device repair through various online courses.

Even as a child growing up in Kronum, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, Kwame was known for repairing electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, computers, Walkmans, and radios. His unique talent made him a beloved figure in his community.

Driven by a lifelong dream to become one of Africa’s leading figures in technology and innovation, Kwame is now channeling his passion into empowering others. He has expressed a desire to create a platform for training and skills development, aiming to provide opportunities for young people interested in tech.

Today’s meeting with Hon. Samuel Nartey George marks a significant step forward. The Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation is actively exploring a partnership with Kwame to develop a national course or training program focused on device repair and management.

According to the Minister, this collaboration could help address the growing issue of faulty phone imports and create employment opportunities across the country.
