Thieves steal roofing sheets, desks from school building, assembly man cry for help

Thieves have surprisingly stolen all the roofing sheets and all the school desks from Akyem Oda St. Andrew Anglican Basic school – ‘B’ building at Akyem Oda in the Birim Central municipality of Eastern region when school wasn’t in section, the assembly member of the area seeks for help to re-roof the building for the pupils.

Papa Yaw Amoah, the assembly member for AseneÉ› electoral area in Akyem Oda of Eastern region speaking to the media revealed that he was amazed to see all the roofing sheets have been completely stolen from the building which serves as the ‘B’ block for St. Andrew Anglican Basic school, including all the metal chairs from the classroom.

He revealed that the other ‘A’ side of school building was affected by rain storm sometime ago when the roofing of the buildings were ripped off so all the pupils were moved from the ‘A’ to the ‘B’ block and fortunately the building was re-roofed by the government so the pupils were moved back into the ‘A’ block.

He added that plans and arrangements were ongoing for the ‘B’ block to be painted for the ‘B’ pupils of the school to be moved back into their building but unfortunately, they woke up to see all the roofing sheets and school desks being mysteriously stolen by unknown people when school wasn’t in section.

He is therefore calling on the government, individuals and other agencies to as a matter of urgency help re-roof the building for the pupils as the rain has destroyed the sealing and will gradually destroy the whole building.
