Ken Ofori-Atta undergoes successful prostate cancer surgery – Wife discloses
Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has successfully undergone a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, to treat prostate cancer, according to his wife.

The procedure, which took place on Friday, 13th June 2025, lasted over four hours and was part of a planned treatment following a confirmed diagnosis earlier this year.

In a statement released by his wife on Monday, June 16, it was confirmed that the surgery proceeded as scheduled and that the medical team is now focusing on his postoperative care.

“The doctors are pleased with how the procedure went and will now place him on a postoperative regime,” the statement read.

Despite his medical condition, Mr. Ofori-Atta has faced legal challenges. The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) declared him a fugitive after he failed to appear for questioning in an ongoing investigation.

The OSP maintains that it has not received certified medical records or official documentation confirming his inability to return to Ghana.

In response, Mr. Ofori-Atta’s family has petitioned the INTERPOL Commission for the Control of Files, urging the withdrawal of the Red Notice. They argue that the notice was issued without due consideration of his health condition and pending legal proceedings.

Mr. Ofori-Atta’s family has expressed gratitude for the support and prayers received during this challenging time. They have reiterated his commitment to cooperate fully with the OSP upon his recovery and return to Ghana.
