Techiman North, Bono East Region — The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Techiman North District, Hon. Adom K. Johnson, has reiterated the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama to tackling plastic waste, reducing pollution, and promoting a greener Ghana.

Hon. Johnson made this declaration while delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, at the regional celebration of World Environment Day. The event, organized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), brought together key stakeholders to discuss sustainable environmental practices.

Speaking on the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution,” the MCE stressed the urgent need for behavioral change, strict policy enforcement, and active community involvement to protect the country’s natural resources.

“In line with President Mahama’s vision, we must take bold and deliberate action to address the growing threat of plastic waste in our communities,” he stated.

To commemorate this year’s celebration, Hon. Johnson announced a major green initiative in the Techiman North District. “I have assembled a dedicated team, under my leadership, to plant and nurture 5,000 trees across the district. This is our contribution to restoring ecological balance and combating climate change,” he said.

The MCE concluded by calling on citizens, especially the youth, to take ownership of environmental protection efforts. “We must work together to build a legacy of environmental stewardship that will make our generation proud.”
