The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe has delivered on a major campaign promise by investing GH¢3.6 million in initiatives aimed at youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and community infrastructure.
The MP donated a wide range of items—including hairdryers, sewing machines, cutlasses, and streetlights—designed to support skill acquisition and small business development, particularly among the youth and informal workers in the constituency.
Speaking at a distribution event on May 14, 2025, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe explained that the donations were in response to numerous appeals she received during her campaign from both young and elderly constituents. Many had requested tools to help improve their trades and livelihoods.
In total, the MP has provided 1,000 boxes of hairdryers (500 of which were delivered today, following a similar donation last month), 400 hairdryer stands, 500 sewing machines, and 500 boxes of cutlasses. Additionally, she announced that youth enrolling in apprenticeship programs will receive a monthly stipend of GH¢400 to help cover their living expenses while undergoing training.
Addressing infrastructural needs in the constituency, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe also procured 500 streetlights to be installed in underserved communities lacking reliable electricity and public lighting.
Responding to youth demands for support in sports and recreation, the MP donated over 400 footballs, 400 sets of jerseys, and 50 trophies to encourage sports development and community engagement.
Hon. Gyan Cudjoe reaffirmed her commitment to empowering women and unskilled youth, emphasizing that this investment forms part of her broader vision to equip underprivileged residents with the tools necessary for sustainable livelihoods and long-term community growth.
