Three former high-ranking officials of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), including the immediate past Commissioner-General, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, are currently in the custody of the Office of the Special Prosecutor in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) scandal.
Also being held are Dr. Isaac Crentsil and Christian Tetteh Sottie, both former top officials of the revenue authority.
According to a release by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, the arrests are linked to ongoing investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences in respect of contracts between the GRA and SML for revenue assurance services.
The probe also seeks to verify SML’s claims that its services have been saving the nation significant revenues.
Their arrest comes amid growing scrutiny over the controversial SML deal, which has raised questions about possible financial misconduct and irregularities in contract execution.
