Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Bahamas to enhance labour mobility and promote the recruitment of Ghanaian teachers and nurses to work in the Caribbean nation.
The agreement, signed by the Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives, Emmanuel Agyekum, marks a new milestone in bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The Minister was accompanied by Mr. Nelson Ndebah Ndebugre from the Office of the President.
As part of the visit, Mr. Agyekum held discussions with the Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Philip Edward “Brave” Davis, to reaffirm both countries’ commitment to deepening ties through skills exchange and people-centered development.
Speaking at the signing ceremony on October 22, Minister Agyekum described the agreement as a “win-win” for both nations, noting that it underscores global confidence in the competence, professionalism, and dedication of Ghanaian workers.
“This initiative not only creates opportunities for Ghanaian teachers and nurses to contribute globally but also strengthens the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Ghana and The Bahamas,” he said.

Mr. Agyekum also hinted that the broader agreement opens doors for future partnerships in other sectors such as commerce, tourism, culture, and human capital development.
He expressed gratitude to the Government and people of The Bahamas for their continued friendship and support, adding that the partnership reflects Ghana’s vision of promoting skills export and expanding its global presence through mutually beneficial cooperation.
“This MoU represents a bridge of opportunity between our peoples and our shared aspirations,” he concluded.
