The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Hon. Elikplim Akurugu, on Thursday hosted the Parliamentary Select Committee on Gender, Children and Social Protection at the Motherly Love Foundation, an orphanage located within the constituency.
The visit formed part of the committee’s ongoing three-day working tour of selected orphanages nationwide, aimed at assessing conditions and identifying critical needs in these facilities.
The delegation was led by Committee Chairperson Hon. Helen Adjoa Ntoso (MP for Krachi West) and Vice Chairperson Hon. Zuwera Ibrahimah (MP for Salaga South). During their time at the orphanage, committee members interacted with the management and children, and commended Rev. Azumah, the founder and director of the facility, for his outstanding dedication to the care and development of the children.
Hon. Ntoso praised the unique impact of the Motherly Love Foundation, describing it as “a beacon of hope” and assured the director of the committee’s full support in addressing the orphanage’s challenges.
In his remarks, Rev. Azumah expressed deep gratitude for the visit, while drawing attention to several ongoing challenges, including the need for improved access to food, healthcare, clothing, and educational resources.
Hon. Elikplim Akurugu thanked the committee for including Dome-Kwabenya in its tour and reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to supporting the Motherly Love Foundation and advocating for the well-being of vulnerable children within her constituency.
The visit concluded with a collective pledge by the committee to push for stronger government and stakeholder support for orphanages and child welfare institutions across the country.
