The Majority caucus in Parliament has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, in Accra, following his tragic passing in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6.
Dr. Murtala Muhammed died alongside Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and six others when the Ghana Armed Forces aircraft crashed in the Ashanti Region.
The Majority caucus offered words of comfort and solidarity to the bereaved family at their residence in Accra.
MP for Karaga, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, who spoke on behalf of the family, led an Islamic prayer for the late lawmaker and urged the family to take solace in the legacy he left behind.
The visit forms part of a series of national mourning gestures in honour of the eight individuals who lost their lives in what has been described as one of the darkest moments in the country’s recent history.
The fatal incident claimed the lives of eight individuals, including two senior government officials: Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, who doubled as the MP for Tamale Central, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
