A controversy surrounding the Energy Commission of Ghana (ECG) and missing containers has taken a new turn, with the minority in parliament demanding clarity on the matter.

According to Collins Adomako Mensah, MP for Afigya Kwabre and a deputy ranking member of the Energy Committee, the minister’s recent claim that 2,637 containers have been found raises more questions than answers.

The issue began when ECG informed the minister about 2,491 uncleared containers, leading to an investigation that revealed approximately 1,134 containers were missing. However, the recent discovery of 2,637 containers has sparked skepticism, with the minority questioning the ECG’s management and auditing processes.

The minority is calling for the minister to provide a full briefing on the matter, citing concerns about transparency and accountability. “They have not been retrieved. They have been found. They were not missing as per the publication from Daily Graphic,” Mensah emphasized.

The minority wants the minister to appear before parliament to give a detailed explanation of the events surrounding the missing containers. This development has sparked a heated debate, with many questioning the ECG’s handling of the situation.

As the controversy unfolds, the minister’s response to the minority’s demands will be closely watched
