Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, stage a protest in Accra against what they describe as the “misapplication of justice” by the John Mahama-led administration.
The NPP accuses the government of abusing state power to target former officials and sympathisers through politically motivated prosecutions.
Confirming the protest, the party’s National Youth Organiser, Salam Mustapha, said all arrangements with the police had been finalised.
“According to the Public Order Act, we were to give the police a five-day notification. So that is enough time for both of us to prepare. They also invited us to agree on the roads we were going to take and all the details they needed. So, everything as of now is in place,” he told Citi News on Monday.
The party says several other members and sympathisers have also been arrested under what it believes are politically influenced investigations.
According to the NPP, today’s protest seeks to highlight what it calls the government’s “selective application of justice” and to demand fairness in the treatment of opposition figures.
