Wontumi TV has issued an unreserved apology to President John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the public over allegations made by one of its presenters linking the President to the recent fatal military helicopter crash.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 12, Wontumi TV described the comments as “inappropriate, unfounded, and contrary to our values of professionalism, accuracy, and fairness in broadcasting.”

The station, owned by Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, stressed that the claims did not reflect its views, policies, or editorial stance.

“As a responsible media house, we deeply regret the distress and reputational harm this may have caused to the President, the NDC, and the affected families,” the statement noted, adding that disciplinary measures will be taken against the presenter.

Management further said editorial guidelines had been reinforced to ensure on-air content is based solely on verified facts and credible information.
